Brews For Browns: September 20th @ Hammerstone’s

We are excited to announce a very special event on Wednesday, September 20th at Hammerstone’s in historic Soulard. Our goal is to raise funds for the Meramec River telemetry study.
Gateway TU has recently teamed up with MDC to track brown trout on the Meramec River. The ultimate goal of this telemetry study is to improve brown trout survival and increase the number of older, larger brown trout in the upper Meramec. There are currently fish swimming the river with transmitters giving biologists important data that will help them better understand the trout habit. Where do they go after stocking? How far do they travel? What habitat are they drawn to? Where do they go in the heat of the summer? Where do they go during high water events? How do they avoid predation?
Early results have exceeded expectations and we are pleased to announce that MDC would like to expand the study by increasing the number of tagged fish and radio transmitters along the river which gather valuable data for the study.
In order to raise funds to purchase additional equipment, GTU and Hammerstone’s cordially invite you to: “Brews for Browns.”
Your $50 donation will get you:
  • Entered into Sage X 590-4 fly rod raffle ($895 value)
  • Entered into Sage 4260 fly reel raffle ($299 value)
  • Entered into Rio Gold fly line ($89.95 value)
  • A bottomless cup that you can refill with some of St. Louis’s finest micro-brews
  • Live music & a great time with like minded conservationists.
While food is not included, Hammerstone’s will have a special menu available and they have been gracious enough to donate 20% of food sales to the cause.
This is going to be a social event—no speakers or presentations.
Hammerstone’s is located at: 2028 S 9th St, Saint Louis, MO 63104 and our event will start at 5:30pm on the back patio and our raffle will be held at 8pm.
If you are on Facebook, please check out the event page and share with friends (even those that do not fish) to help support the Meramec River trout fishery.
We are looking forward to the evening and hope to see you there.
